Tips to make the most of the best bike park in the world: Whistler!

Juan Pablo Gonzalez
Visiting Whistler, one of the most iconic destinations for mountain bike lovers, is a unique experience. But to make sure your trip is unforgettable, here are some key tips:

1. Canadian Visa: A simple procedure

For Colombians, entering Canada requires a visa, but don't worry! The process is very easy and is done entirely online.
  • Apply for your Canadian visa here
  • Remember: the visa is valid for the same period as your passport, so make sure it is up to date.

2. How to get to Whistler from the airport

The most convenient way to get there is via the buses that connect directly to Whistler and allow you to bring your sports equipment at no additional cost. We recommend purchasing the flexible option for only $5 CAD more, which allows you to change your itinerary without penalty. For example, it was useful for us because one of our suitcases was delayed and we were able to change the bus ticket without any problem.
Within the village there is public transport where you can see the routes and schedules on Google Maps, this is very useful so you don't have to walk with your sports equipment all over Whistler.
  • Book your transport here

3. Passes to enjoy the park without limits

To get the most out of the bike park, we suggest you purchase the passes that give you unlimited access to the gondolas, as well as discounts in shops and restaurants. It's the key to experiencing all the adrenaline of Whistler!
  • Buy your passes here

4. Where to stay: choose well and save

Location is key. We recommend looking for accommodation on Airbnb, especially in the Village Centre or Upper Village. We stayed in the Upper Village, just a 5-minute bike ride from the gondolas. We found a super comfortable first-floor apartment, with a garage for our bikes and all the necessary utensils to cook and save on food.

5. Where to shop? Must-see shops and places

Whistler has everything you need for your days of adventure. Here are some places you can't miss:

6. Top of the World and the new Million Dollar Trail

If you dream of exploring the famous Top of the World trail, keep in mind that it requires an additional ticket, which in 2024 cost $20 CAD. But it's worth it! Always check the weather conditions though, as this trail is weather dependent to be open.

Also, if you decide to extend your descent, we recommend the new Million Dollar Trail, which takes you to Creekside. Use the Trailforks app to guide you, as the entrance to this trail is not so obvious.

7. Must-see places for a photo or to challenge your skills:

  • Many of these spots are located on double-diamond level trails, perfect for challenging your skills while capturing epic memories.
  • Check out the Whistler map here to locate these key spots and strategically plan your route.
